Quick Overview

Intense ruby color with garnet reflections, pronounced and complex bouquet with hints of cherry, fruits of the forest, spicy scents of violet and tobacco and a suggestion of minerals. Elegant, smooth, velvety and intense it displays characteristic hints of plums, black cherries, black pepper and tar. It is full bodied and austere on the palate with balanced tannins and acidity. It will continue to age and develop for more than a decade (100% Aglianico).

ROBERT PARKER REVIEW: The 2005 Taurasi Fatica Contadina is wonderfully expressive on the nose. Sweet scents of tobacco, rosemary, cedar, spices, worn-in leather and licorice lead to a textured, layered core of fruit. This shows lovely inner sweetness and perfume. The silkiest of tannins frame an impeccably, polished finish. Structurally this isn't a huge Taurasi, but it appears to have enough freshness to drink well for a number of years. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.
