2005 Two Hands Brave Faces Barossa Valley Shiraz South Australia 750ml
This wine is a favorite with restaurants, for good reason - it's a great food wine. Barossan in style but with finesse that often suggests cooler origins. Deep plum colour with a purple hue. It is matured in primarliy old French oak that offers a hint of cedar on the nose, backed by bright red fruits. Silky tannins mingle with sweet spice and soft red fruits on the palate. This is a great food wine perfect with pork belly and porcini mushroom risotto, the dry savory finish the perfect foil for this type of food.
ROBERT PARKER RATING: 94
ROBERT PARKER REVIEW: A brilliant effort is the 2005 Brave Faces, a small barrel-aged (20% new) blend of 70% Shiraz and 30% Grenache. Flamboyant aromas of black and red fruits, spice box, flowers, and toast are followed by a rich wine with loads of texture and glycerin as well as a heady, full-throttle yet velvety finish. It should drink well for a decade.
