2008 Beaulieu Vineyard Georges de Latour Private Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml
This wine showcases the finest Cabernet Sauvignon vines, which are deeply rooted in the well-draining alluvial fan soils of Napa Valley’s Rutherford American Viticultural Area. More specifically, it captures the beautifully balanced characteristics of BV Ranches No. 1 and No. 2, originally planted by Georges de Latour in the early 1900s. More than a century of growing grapes on the Rutherford Bench gives BV the knowledge they need to match the best rootstocks, clones and cultivation techniques to this exceptional site.
ROBERT PARKER REVIEW: Another brilliant offering is the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve. It possesses a dense ruby/purple color along with terrific structure, lots of creme de cassis, minerality, beautiful purity of black currants and cherries, a judicious touch of oak, and a full-bodied, structural profile that is almost Bordeaux-like. This complete, rich and promising effort should be a 25-30-year wine.
WINE SPECTATOR REVIEW: Impressive for its stylish delicacy, finesse and subtle details, this firm red offers complex loamy earth, cherry, currant and plum flavors that build and gain traction on the finish, where the tannins have a pleasing loamy edge. Drink now through 2022.
