Fantastic!!! A gorgeous deep ruby red color (60 % Sangiovese, 30% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon). On the nose lush aromas of blackberry, sweet vanilla, hints of spice, and some dried fruits. Full-bodied on the palate showing ripe characteristics, great balance leading to an uplifting finish that will linger on the palate for minutes. Drink till 2016.

2008 La Massa Toscana 750ml

Located in the hilltop town of Panzano near Greve in Chianti Classico in the southern part of the Tuscan province of Florence. Giampaolo Motta who left his family’s successful leather business in Naples to move to Tuscany and pursue a career in viticulture, founded la Massa in 1992. Prior to starting La Massa, Giampaolo apprenticed at several wineries in the area.

WINE SPECTATOR REVIEW: Full-bodied, with gorgeous aromas of crushed raspberry and cassis, fine tannins and an attractive finish. There's very attractive balance to this. Best after 2010.

ROBERT PARKER REVIEW: The 2008 La Massa is a decidedly restrained wine for this house. Dark fruit, minerals and a variety of flowers are layered into an exquisite frame of impeccable elegance and pedigree. The 2008 doesn’t look to be a long-term ager, but it should drink nicely over the next few years while the fruit retains its juiciness. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2016.

STEVE TANZAR REVIEW: 90 Points by Stephen Tanzer! Deep ruby. Very ripe aromas of blackberry, sweet spices and vanilla, with a suggestion of roasted fruits. At once sweet and vinous, with juicy acidity lifting the flavors of blackcurrant, licorice and minerals. Finishes long, ripe and soft, with a note of licorice and considerable fleshiness. Those who appreciate soft, ripe wines will love this; I'd drink it over the next five or six years.
