2009 Giraud Tradition Châteauneuf-du-Pape 750ml
The winery Domaine Giraud is very attached to this wine "Tradition," it symbolizes the families inheritance passed from the parents and the parents before them for generations.
This wine symbolizes the affection for Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the family and their obsession. It's made from a blend of mostly Grenache. Rich and powerful, it reflects its terroir with those black cherry notes typical of the appellation.
ROBERT PARKER RATING: 94
ROBERT PARKER REVIEW: Made from an identical blend, the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition reveals deep kirsch liqueur notes intermixed with raspberries, smoked herbs, roasted meats and hoisin sauce. Complex, with great fruit, a voluptuous mouthfeel, low acidity and sweet tannin, it can be consumed over the next 10-15 years.
WINE SPECTATOR RATING: 93
WINE SPECTATOR REVIEW: Dense but stylish, with a silky texture to the cassis, macerated cherry and linzer torte flavors, followed by ample spice, pepper, warm ganache and black tea notes filling in the finish. Very fresh acidity carries it all deftly. Best from 2012 through 2023.
