2010 Shea Wine Cellars Estate Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 750ml
Shea Wine Cellars is the winemaking effort of grape growers Dick & Deirdre Shea. After ten years of selling all of the wineries grape production they decided to create their own expression of Shea Vineyard terroir.
ROBERT PARKER REVIEW: Corresponding to 70% of what Shea estate-bottles, its roughly 4,000 cases representing 17 different slices of the vineyard - old vines, young vines, and multiple vine selections - the 2010 Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard initially conveys a surprisingly Cote-Rotie-like impression of bacon and violets mingled with fresh ripe cherry. Texturally polished and infectiously juicy, this projects a Pinot-typical palate personality, and finishes with subtle smokiness and sappy, ripe, but in no way superficially sweet fruit. It should be worth following for at least the better part of a decade and will probably open up and display greater complexity after another 2-3 years.
