The 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon 16th Anniversary Release (about 1,400 cases produced) is far more accessible than other vintages from the nineties. The color is an opaque black plum, and the nose offers classic cassis intermixed with licorice, foresty scents, and minerals. Full-bodied and powerful, with a 45-50-second finish, it is the most developed and evolved Anniversary Release I have tasted in the nineties. While it will not be mature when released, it should hit its plateau of maturity in 4-5 years, and keep for two decades or more.
