ROBERT PARKER REVIEW: Given the bang for the buck, so to speak, this is an excellent value, consistently full-bodied, concentrated, and well-structured. The dense purple-colored, full-bodied 1998 Red Blend, a 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, and 20% Cabernet Franc blend, reveals explosive fruit, licorice, tobacco, black cherries, currants, and new oak in the nose, and high levels of tannin. It comes across in the mouth like a St. Emilion on steroids. The wine seems extremely young, and 2-3 years of cellaring may result in an even more multi-dimensional effort. It should keep well for 14-15 years.
Charles Cimicky, is the son of founder Karl Cimicky and was originally called Karlsburg Wines, Charles & his wife, Jennie, now run Cimicky Wines. He believes in making true authentic style of wine from the Barossa Valley . Which show fruit characters of rich, robust notes, that graze the palate in a smooth and lingering way.
