2001 Clark Claudon Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
SKU #500541
Estate bottling is a pure varietal expression of Cabernet Sauvignon. A compelling mixture of cassis, violet and cherry dominate the aromas while 24 months of aging in French oak imparts a fine-grained texture and lingering chocolate finish. The hallmark of this vintage is an elegant, silky texture that is imparted from mature vines and gentle handling in the cellar. At the table or enjoy this wine with richly flavored beef dishes, lamb, earthy wild mushrooms and savory cheese.

ROBERT PARKER REVIEW: Reminiscent of a great vintage of Chateau Margaux, Clark-Claudon’s 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate boasts notes of flowers, graphite, black currants, raspberries, and plums. This tannic, backward 2001 possesses a Bordeaux-like structure as well as a deep, rich, full-bodied personality. Still playing it close to the vest, give it 3-4 more years of bottle age and drink it over the following two decades.
The 2001 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, darker than the most recent vintages, presents with heightened aromas of cassis, violets, fine cedar, & bright black cherries. This full bodied wine fills front, middle and back pallet with round, complex layers of fruit, spice and fine textured French Oak. Give this wine a chance to breath or allow it to evolve for a long, long time; well balanced, elegant and perfectly integrated, it leaves a long signature finish of roasted chocolate; 2001 was a exceptional year!
