ROBERT PARKER REVIEW: The estate’s 2003 Chianti Classico Riserva Vigna Casi is aged in a combination of small French oak barrels and larger casks. It is a weighty effort, with an attractive plumpness from the 10% Merlot used in the blend. It too offers excellent length and fine overall balance. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2019.
This wine is Sangiovese (85%), Merlot (15%). Casi, located between 360 and 400 meters of altitude, on a gravely soil rich of rocks (galestro and alberese). Color is purple-red. On the nose are velvety aromas, cherries and small berries, with pleasant spicy notes. The palate is round and velvety, with dense and not aggressive tannins. A lengthy intense finish with firm tannins.
