ROBERT PARKER REVIEW: A fabulous vintage for this winery, the 2003 Piedrasassi (100% Syrah) exhibits an opaque purple color as well as a gorgeous perfume of mocha-infused, peppery blackberries, and cassis, an opulent, layered attack and mid-palate, and a full-bodied, lush, voluptuous finish.
The wines are made in a humble little warehouse behind a Home Depot in the coastal California town of Lompoc. We have outfitted our space with all the necessary tools to allow us to make wine the way we want to: sorting tables, a lovely stainless steel basket press, large oak barrels from our favorite cooper and a nice cold cellar.
