ROBERT PARKER REVIEW: The dense ruby/purple-tinged 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five (includes 1% Petit Verdot, 10,000 cases produced) offers up juicy red and black fruit notes intermixed with licorice, coffee beans, and camphor as well as an impressive, full-bodied texture, good elegance, and floral undertones. With a savory, broad texture, this beauty can be drunk now or cellared for 15-20 years.
WINE & SPIRITS REVIEW: In the 2004 vintage, the Shafers replaced their Napa Valley Cabernet with One Point Five...The texture, that signal aspect of SLD fruit, is layered and as rich as French roast coffee, with an underlying tension that keeps the vine focused on high-toned red fruit, dark earth and violet scents. It's powerful and guarded when first poured, growing sleek and classical with a day of air. This should drink increasingly well over the next ten years.
One Point Five is an elegant, silky Cabernet Sauvignon with soft tannins and abundant fruit that is approachable when young, yet capable of aging gracefully. This wine reflects the climate and soils of our Stags Leap District vineyard sites and Shafer’s commitment to meticulous, sustainable farming and quality winemaking.
