ROBERT PARKER RATING: 91
ROBERT PARKER REVIEW: The 2008 Pinot Noir Estate Grown was aged in 43% new oak for 11 months. It gives up an expressive nose of spice box, incense, smoke, black cherry, and black raspberry. Smooth-textured, succulent, and structured, it has plenty of spicy black fruit, lively natural acidity, and the balance to evolve for 2-3 years. This lengthy effort will be at its best from 2012 to 2020.
WINE SPECTATOR RATING: 92
WINE SPECTATOR REVIEW: Light and succulent, packaging its seductive red cherry, pomegranate, caramel and mineral flavors in a wispy blanket of fine tannins, deftly balanced to let it all sing harmoniously as the finish lingers. Drink now through 2018.
The 2008 Patton Valley Vineyard Pinot Noir is all about intensity, concentration and structure. Its nose is a pantry of dark, exotic spices, black cherries, loamy earth and spring flowers. The wine quietly announces its entry with a sleek and highly refined texture that fails to hint at the bold concentration that follows. The mid-palate is a dense and complex array of dark cherry, plum, clove, anise and molasses. With near perfect balance of fruit, acid and tannin, the vintage will likely be regarded for its longevity; the result of the vintages slow ripening. Cellar with confidence for a decade or more.
