2011 Beau Vigne Cult Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml

Quick Overview

A with a name like Cult this wine has a lot to live up to. And the 2010 delivers! I was immediately wowed by the bright maraschino cherry and raspberry kirsch aromas driving up and out of the glass like a trampoline performer. It nearly knocked me backward! “How exciting will this wine be?” I asked myself! This youthful wine was allowed to rest 10 minutes to comfort and relax in the glass before a second tasting. I wasn’t exactly expecting this… Again the Cult was racy with aroma but this time I got nearer. The bright red fruit aromas warmed up and lofted now more interesting fruit and barrel nuances in the center of the olfactory experience. Raspberry turned to blackberry and intoxicating barrel spices showed. On the taste, flavors of smooth white chocolates and light vanilla bean from the French oak cooperage emerged on the initial and mid palate. From the center and beyond to the back palate, the dense black fruit teams with warm barrel spice and a touch of Napa Valley terroir and youthful tannin to create an impressive linger lasting over a minute. My overall impression is that the ’10 Cult will certainly be a memorable wine while drinking very well now. From there one could certainly cellar Cult until 2027 and beyond. -Winery

2011 Beau Vigne Cult Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml

The winemaker at Beau Vigne is Kirk Venge, he has roots embedded in the winemaking world of Napa Valley. He is a crafty winemaker who has been around vineyards and wineries his entire life. His father, Nils Venge, is an icon in the wine world who always had his son, Kirk, either in a winery or in a vineyard. To Kirk’s credit, he has polished his own skill set and reputation as one of the finest wine makers in the Napa Valley.

ROBERT PARKER RATING: 96

ROBERT PARKER REVIEW: A blockbuster as well as a candidate for the wine of this irregular year is the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Cult, which comes from a single vineyard. It offers explosive black cherry and black currant fruit intermixed with notes of cedarwood, forest floor and spring flowers. A wine of great charm, opulence and richness, this may be one of my highest rated 2011 Cabernet Sauvignons. Drink it over the next decade.
