2018 Bohème English Hill Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 750ml
Winery Notes- English Hill Vineyard grows at the southwest edge of Sebastopol Hills, surrounded by expansive pasture and rangeland. Overlooking Russian River Valley and the Marin Coast, weather swings wildly between continental and maritime influences. 2018 Pinot Noir: Five clones of Pinot Noir are planted at this site that bridges Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley growing regions. The grapes were harvested between September 18th to 25th with an average yield of 3.57 pounds per vine. English Hill Pinot Noir received tailored cold-soak and hand punch-down treatment with 25% Whole Cluster fermentation. The wine aged 22 months in 20% new French Burgundy barrels before bottling.
WINE SPECTATOR REVIEW: Concentrated raspberry tart and plum paste flavors show lively floral notes that are backed by firm acidity and tannins. Intense spiciness midpalate leads to a luscious finish loaded with hot stone and underbrush accents. Drink now through 2026.
English Hill Vineyard grows on a hilltop in Southern Sonoma Coast American Viticulture Area (AVA). The narrow-spaced vineyard is a mosaic of nine Pinot Noir plots, one Chardonnay and one Syrah. Overlooking Tomales and the Marin Coast Range, weather is turbulent and exposed at this site. On summer mornings, Pacific fog engulfs the vineyard, covering the foliage with vital ocean mist. Afternoon winds dry the canopy and deposit flecks of soil in the folds of the leaves. Late August heat draws moisture from the ground, forming cracks in the sandy-clay loam. Each wine from this vineyard carries a clear mark of its far coast origin.
