2018 Clos St. Antonin Plan de Dieu Côtes-du-Rhône 750ml
Purchased by Aimé and Isabel Sabon in 2013, Clos Saint Antonin is situated outside the village of Jonquieres in the region know as Plan de Dieu. Totalling 15 hectares, this nearly contiguous estate is planted to a high proportion of Grenache ranging in age from 40-70 years old. Plan de Dieu is a blend of 60-70 year-old Grenache with 30% Mourvèdre and 10% Grenache from a 6-hectare parcel of vines planted next to the ancient farmhouse of St Antonin. The Plan de Dieu is aged in foudre (Grenache) and 225-600L French oak barrels (Syrah & Mourvèdre).
Mostly Grenache blended with Syrah and Mourvèdre, brought up in demi-muid, barrique, and wood tank, the 2018 Côtes Du Rhône Villages Plan De Dieu reveals a medium ruby color as well as a beautiful perfume of kirsch, crushed flowers, incense, and spice. It's rich and powerful, yet has an elegant, seamless style.
