2018 Morlet En Famille Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 750ml
SKU #5065449
Winery Notes- For generations, our family has been growing the Pinot Noir grape in France. Each harvest, we celebrate this time-honored commitment while our children stomp a small vat of Pinot Noir from California’s Sonoma Coast. Handcrafted using classical Burgundian winemaking techniques, this special wine is dedicated to our grandparents, parents and relatives from both countries. As with any family celebration or casual gathering, this wine is to be appreciated ‘En Famille.’
Winemaker Notes: Intense raspberry, wild strawberry, forest floor and earthy notes (graphite), very rich and complex with a leathery lingering finish. Will age gracefully for over a decade.
VINOUS REVIEW: The 2018 Pinot Noir En Famille is fermented and aged exclusively in puncheon. It also has a brighter aromatic profile that works especially well here. Mint, blood orange and red/purplish berry fruit resonate with notable energy and vibrancy. This southeast-facing site yields a Pinot of real distinction.
ROBERT PARKER REVIEW: The En Famille Pinot Noir comes from a vineyard planted in 1990 to Goldridge soils, right next door to the “Coteaux Nobles” vineyard in Fort Ross-Seaview. Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2018 Pinot Noir En Famille sashays out of the glass with gorgeous scents of cranberry jelly, pomegranate and raspberry preserves, leading to suggestions of underbrush, dried lavender and orange peel. The full-bodied palate is densely laden with red fruit preserves and earthy layers, supported by very finely grained tannins and tons of freshness, finishing with a refreshing lift. 360 cases were made.
