Claque-Pepin 10 Year Old Organic Calvados
Distillery Notes- The name Claque-Pépin comes from a type of apple variety, which when ripe, rattles when shaken. The name translates to the seeds (pepin) which rattle (claque). The property is located in the Normandie region, nestled between the Domfrontais and the Pay d'Auge, in the 17th century farm next to the ancient chateau of Serans, formerly the family estate of the Louvet family. Claque-Pépin officially began in 2005. However, current owner Benoît Louvet has been immersed in the world of distilling and ageing for many years. He began his "apprenticeship" fairly young with his grandfather Vital. After working for a few other Calvados producers as cellar master, he decided to start his own artisanal production and perpetuate the art of making calvados, cider, and local Normand apéritifs, while respecting the Normand tradition and the environment.Rating(s)$59.906 -
Adrien Camut 6 year old Calvados Pays d'Auge
A nose of papaya, milk chocolate and vanilla wafer, apple soda, and mushroom leads to a textural palate of plum, dried apricots, date, and butterscotch with subtle rancio and pleasant acidity. A finish of cinnamon and fuzzy green herbs gently ends a ride you’ll want to take again and again.$94.901 -
Domaine du Manoir de Montreuil Reserve Calvados Pay d'Auge
Distillery Notes- Giard is one of the grand old names in the Pays d'Auge appellation of Calvados. The Giards have traced their family's history back 12 generations to the 1700's. When Roger Giard, now in his nineties, retired he handed the reigns of the Domaine du Manoir de Montreuil to his son Patrice, who now directs the property along with his wife Michelle. In 2006, I spent some time in front of the still with Patrice Giard while he distilled his year-old cider. We began tasting through a number of barrels together, and an idea was born to combine a number of barrels into the best possible young blend. The result, called Réserve, is comprised of 30% barrel #38 (distilled in 1998), 40% barrel #32 (distilled in 2000) and 30% barrel #4 (distilled in 2003), creating a blend whose average age is y years old. The initial release was a mere 480 bottles. It shows forthcoming apple flavors, along with a touch of vanilla, smoke, spice and subtle hint of beeswax.$44.90Out of StockOut of Stock
