2023 Orin Swift Eight Years in the Desert #7 California Red Blend
Winery Notes- Being stranded in a desert leaves a lot to be desired—how to get back home, where to find food, water and shelter, and thoughts of survival. For eight years in the early 2010s, Orin Swift Cellars was barred from making any Zinfandel wines. From the grape that started everything OSC, the ‘desert’ gave us an opportunity to explore the diverse range of California’s grape varietals. But, as soon as those eight years were up, we had a plan in place to pay homage to our home.$37.9023 -

2023 Hourglass Estate Sauvignon Blanc
Winery Notes- Equally textural and refreshing, the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc presents primary aromas of tropical and stone fruit taking center stage. Mango and guava are complemented by Meyer lemon, lime zest, and orange blossom. On the palate, crisp Granny Smith apple, zippy lemon balm, and honeyed nectarine intertwine with hints of brioche and wet stone minerality, providing nuanced layers of flavor. With 3% Semillon adding further depth, and a combination of steel and oak barrel ageing contributing to unparalleled texture. Frequent lees stirring adds mid-palate richness to offset the vibrant natural acidity, resulting in a well-balanced and harmonious finish.Rating(s)$34.9021 -
2023 Emilio Moro Finca Resalso Ribera del Duero
Winery Notes-Finca Resalso is the name of the historic vineyard that was planted in 1932, the year in which Emilio Moro, second generation and father of the third generation of the Moro family, was born. The winery’s youngest wine was first released in 1994 and its release generated a great stir in Ribera del Duero as it was the first young wine to incorporate oak in its production. Cherry red in colour with violet tones, it has a very expressive and fruity bouquet, where the personality of the 2023 vintage is reflected through the fruit balance, more inclined to red fruits. That said, the brand’s characteristic notes of black fruits with lactic nuances are also present. It is balanced and ripe, with a very pleasant and tasty palate that makes it a very appetising and easy wine to drink.Rating(s)$15.9011 -

2023 Emmolo North Coast Sauvignon Blanc
Winery Notes- Guided by the idea that “less is more,” this wine is dry and fresh, with crisp fruit flavors and bright minerality. Some of our grapes come from family vineyards in Napa Valley, with the majority coming from Suisun Valley, a “hidden gem” wine region only 30 minutes from Napa. Suisun shares a similar maritime climate and produces exceptional fruit. Our farming practices enable us to create a wine that is not overly ripe – while also not herbaceous – featuring low alcohol and bright acidity.$14.9024 -
2023 ZD California Chardonnay
Winery Notes- The 2023 vintage presented ideal growing conditions for our Chardonnay, resulting in an exceptional expression of this varietal. A long, mild growing season allowed the grapes to reach optimal ripeness while maintaining vibrant acidity. This was a great year for ZD’s 55th harvest producing world class wines! Organically certified grapes from three core appellations (Napa and Sonoma Carneros, and Monterey) were hand harvested at night and 100% barrel fermented in our custom-designed cellar room at a cool 48°F. This long, cool fermentation ensures optimal lees contact for richness and depth, and helps to prevent malolactic fermentation, thus preserving the bright natural acidity from our coastal vineyard sites. The wine rested for 10 months in 100% American Oak barrels which contributes to a heightened complexity. This Chardonnay displays a pale-yellow hue hinting at a delight for your senses. Aromas bursting of ripe Asian pear, green apple, honeydew melon, and pink grapefruit mingled with nectarine notes. The palate follows through with a distinct richness of lemon curd and balanced flavors of guava with white peach. The acidity in this wine is mouthwatering. In ZD’s signature California Chardonnay style, the wine is vibrant, complex, and finishes with flavors reminiscent of crème brûlée and vanillin notes, resulting in a long-lasting mouthfeel.$33.9024+ -
2023 Schug Carneros Pinot Noir (375ml Half Bottle)
Winery Notes- This classic Carneros region Pinot Noir offers a wide range of flavors and aromas thanks to its “clonal diversity.” The individual clones from several different vineyard lots are vinified separately and then carefully selected and blended, each retaining its unique clonal signature. The result is a complex wine with a rich bouquet of red cherries, raspberries, blackberries, and hints of floral notes and baking spices. It is bursting with juicy flavors of strawberry and cranberry, wrapped in a silky and elegant texture, and ending with a long, flavorful finish. This wine pairs nicely with lamb, duck, and grilled fish and will improve with additional cellaring for 2 to 5 years.$19.909 -
2023 Domaine Diochon Moulin-á-Vent Vieilles Vignes
In a wine landscape in which producers bottle increasingly wider ranges of cuvées, Domaine Diochon has become an outlier, producing one bottling year in and year out, which happens to be the same bottling we have imported for nearly forty years: the old-vine Moulin-à-Vent. In our November 1984 newsletter, Kermit wrote, “There was only one cask of old vines and Diochon was going to blend it in to add substance and character to his other casks. I had to pay a premium to obtain that one cask pure and unblended.” Today, the wine is made from vines planted in 1920, 1950, and the 1960s. Not much else has changed with respect to this rouge that hails from Moulin-à-Vent, the Beaujolais cru known for producing arguably the region’s most age-worthy wines. Bernard Diochon, who succeeded his father in 1967, once said, “I like tannic wines without heaviness; with fruit and floral aromas. I don’t like weighty wines with hard tannins.” Although Bernard has been succeeded by Thomas Patenôtre, the wine continues to remain true to that sentiment. It contains some tannin—it wouldn’t be young Moulin-à-Vent if it didn’t—but it is beautifully integrated and the wine is ready to drink now if given a little time to breathe. Soulful and savory, with notes of cherries, iron, and smoke, this is cru Beaujolais built to last.$24.9010 -
