2022 Orin Swift Papillon Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Winery Notes- Pouring an opaque crimson core with a brooding cardinal rim, the 2022 Papillon opens with aromatic notes of ripe cassis, blackberry, coastal chapparal, cedar box and allspice. On entry, the palate continues many of the same notes from the nose — cassis, pluot, blueberry, boysenberry, shaved fennel bulb and a touch of earth. A round, weighty mid-palate effortlessly gives way to dusty, coating tannins — a pleasing texture — and finishing hints of barbeque tri-tip, Madagascar vanilla and toffee.$64.9011 -
2021 Groth 40th Anniversary Edition Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
Winery Notes- This deep and dense garnet-hued wine opens with macerated blackberry aromas intertwined with freshly baked graham cracker crust. Layers of complexity unfold with the addition of cocoa nibs, hibiscus tea, hints of poppy seed and an underlying presence of graphite, adding depth and sophistication. On the palate, bright and refreshing notes of sour cherry and juicy raspberry take center stage, accompanied by the depth of black currant. The inclusion of rhubarb introduces a subtle tartness that complements the sweetness of the fruit and paprika notes add a nuanced spiciness to the overall character. The tannins, initially robust, gradually melt away, leaving behind a velvety texture and finish.$59.9024 -
2020 Bibi Graetz Testamatta Toscana Rosso
Winery Notes- Testamatta - “crazy-head” in Italian - is the best word to describe Bibi Graetz: a positive, creative and passionate person. Testamatta wine expresses the purity, minerality and transparency of Sangiovese from old vines on the top of the hills characterized by soils rich of stones. A Supertuscan made with 100% Sangiovese, result of the combination of tradition and creativity.$64.9018 -
2020 Cordero di Montezemolo Monfalletto Barolo
Winery Notes- The company’s flag, its symbolic wine, the label that more than any other embodies the history, heritage, culture and essence that Cordero di Montezemolo aims to express through its work. A Barolo made from the unification of all the plots cultivated in La Morra, minus the small quantities of grapes selected from parts of them for the production of Barolo Gattera and Barolo Riserva Gorette. Barolo Monfalletto is our biggest production, thanks to the large extension of vineyards from which it originates, which cover an area of about 14 hectares. Each part of the hill is harvested separately, choosing the best moment for each one. Vinification and ageing in wood follow individual paths and the final blending of all the lots takes place only at the time of bottling. Its main characteristics are its pleasantness, delicacy and readiness to drink, making it a Barolo that can be enjoyed from an early age. Our history, our present, our future.$58.906 -
2021 Joseph Phelps Freestone Vineyards Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Winery Notes- Fresh and lively with perfumed black raspberry and cherry aromatics wrapped in rustic forest floor notes. Juicy Bing cherry, savory herbs, and ripe dark berries create a complex and textured palate with acid structure and balance leading to a delightfully engaging finish.$54.904 -
2022 Wayfarer Estate - Wayfarer Vineyard Fort Ross-Seaview Chardonnay
Winery Notes- The 2022 Chardonnay ‘The Estate’ is an enticing pale gold in the glass. An exuberant nose evokes white peach, nectarine, Meyer lemon curd, quince and Anjou pear accented with essences of honeysuckle, toasted hazelnut and wet river stone. Fresh and nervy, the wine displays a thrilling tension between lithe fruit expression and vibrant acidity, beautifully balanced by a touch of richness from barrel fermentation in partial new oak. The wine finishes with a lush fruit note that tempers into a lingering minerality.$89.906 -
2019 Cerbaiona M.L Fioretti P.V.D. Rosso Toscana
Winery Notes- In 1977 a new owner, Diego Molinari, arrived from Rome, and neighboring growers were hired to replant and expand the vineyard. In 1981, Cerbaiona began to produce for commerce, and four years later labeled the wine from that vintage as Brunello di Montalcino. Nearly instantly, critics noted what the locals had known long before: The small hillside of Cerbaiona, with its galestro (limestone shale) soils infused with sand, is a unique patch of land in Montalcino. Almost by doing nothing, you can make an exceptional wine at Cerbaiona. Its vineyard location is that special and unique. In the several decades that followed, Cerbaiona took on the status of a cult Brunello, its small production difficult to find and the characteristics of this wine immediately identifiable with this particular vineyard site. Indeed, Cerbaiona is distinctly different than other Brunello and has the inimitable, individual signs of a cru vineyard; a wine for which being from Cerbaiona is its very essence.$64.902 -
2022 Argiano Solengo Toscana
Winery Notes- Fruity nose with characteristic red fruits, notes of undergrowth and final spiciness. Powerful but harmonious mouth with a savory finish and present but silky tannins.$79.9012 -
2022 Barnett Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon
Winery Notes- The 2022 Spring Mountain Cabernet is one concentrated wine. The opaque purple color is much darker than previous years. The aromatics fill the air with cassis, dark plum and black licorice. Coffee grounds, cola and dark chocolate are also prevalent. The wine is full and silky on the palate. Flavors of mocha, anise and dark cherries fill the mouth. The tannins are full and chalky with some firm mountain acidity for balance. The chocolate covered dark cherry finish lingers for a long time. This concentrated dark Cabernet will only get better over time. For those with patience holding this wine for 13-15 years will reward them (2024-2026).$74.9022 -
2021 Hirsch San Andreas Fault Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Winery Notes- The San Andreas Fault is the flagship wine from Hirsch, and the wine that represents the summation of our complex vineyard. The 2021 is overflowing with fresh red cherries with hints of ripe peach, earth, wet stone, anise and mint. The palate is juicy and concentrated, with a long finish. There is a density of fruit here that marks this as one of the finest vintages ever produced of this wine.$69.902 -
2022 Sojourn Wohler Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Winery Notes- A warm 2022 summer brought one of the earliest harvests on record in the Sonoma Coast, with a September heat wave influencing some picking decisions. Cooler pockets of the Sonoma Coast fared well through the heat and the resulting wines offer depth and finesse. Yields were miniscule, with many vineyards breaking records on the low side for cluster weights. The resulting wines have concentrated flavors with tension and length. In 2022 we harvested Wohler Vineyard in multiple passes, fermenting each block separately. We also co-fermented small portions of the steepest ends of the clone 828 and 667 blocks. This lot formed the foundation of the 2022 blend. Clones 667 and 828 provided rich fruit and density while the Wädenswil 2A component added earthy notes and structure.Rating(s)$54.903 -
2022 Paul Hobbs West Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Winery Notes- Lovely ruby red shades catch the eye, while exotic notes of tart Morello cherry and pungent pine forest swirl with fresh raspberry. Bright, pure fruit carries through on the palate, layered with earthy hints of damp loam and rocky salinity, all backed by the elegant, fine-grained tannins and stylish grip that cool West Sonoma Coast offers at its best.$74.9012 -
2019 Heitz Cellar Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon embraces the classic Heitz Cellar characteristics with aromatic black and red fruit, sandalwood, cedar, and herbs de Provence, complemented by soft tannins from the signature aging process. Abundant rainfall in the winter, followed by a long, warm summer provided an even growing season with long hang time on the vine.$64.906 -
2022 Twomey (Silver Oak) Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Winery Notes- The 2022 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir leads with classic notes of cherry and cola with grapefruit and cardamom. Broad and generous, and the layered tannin structure of the mid-palate leads to a lively, bright finish.$54.907 -
De Sloovere-Pienne 75/25 Extra Brut Champagne
The Pienne family has been making wine for 5 generations and living in the region for even longer. Current winemaker Emeline De Sloovere-Pienne grew up farming and making wine on the same farm house in Brugny where the entire family still resides, the farm itself dates back to the 12th century. It was built to serve a large Medieval castle that stood about 5km away. The farm housed tools, weapons and food and there were tunnels dug between the two so that the farm could be accessed safely. The farm land expanded in the 14th, 16th and 18th centuries, at the time it was used mostly for grain and cows before being converted to grapes in the 1880’s. During World War 1 parts of the farm were used as a military hospital. Emeline took over winemaking from her grandfather, Alain Pienne, in 2015. Prior to taking the helm she was traveling and making wines in the ‘new world’ to hone her craft and see how things were done elsewhere. She brings this knowledge and innovation back with her where she has introduced many of the things she has learned to this historic estate. She has introduced small wooden barrels to be able to ferment each terroir separately, inoculation is done with indigenous yeasts and there is never any cold stabilization or filtration. In the vineyard there have been no herbicides, pesticides or non organic sprays since 2016. She has also begun using cover crops and no longer sprays for botrytis. It is a true family run winery, Emeline’s sister, mother and father all work with her at the estate. Planted alongside the grapevines, the farm features an organic garden used for the biodiversity and to supply the farm to table concept on property that opened in July of 2020. Currently the studies in permaculture focus on the garden but will hopefully someday also inform grape growing. Trees, flowers and birdhouses are also intermixed to create a more suitable growing environment and more are being added yearly. Empreinte, a 100% Meunier zero dosage champagne, was Emeline’s first new cuvée. Originally set to be a one-off it has become a staple of the lineup. Current innovations and experimentations are always pushing the estate forward, while Cuvées named after her Grandfathers Ange and Eugène root the winemaking firmly in the family history. Champagne De Sloovere-Pienne is a dynamic, energetic, female owned and run house that is poised to make great champagne for a long time to come.$59.905 -
2021 Carlisle Papera Ranch Vineyard Russian River Valley Zinfandel
