2023 Emilio Moro Finca Resalso Ribera del Duero
Winery Notes-Finca Resalso is the name of the historic vineyard that was planted in 1932, the year in which Emilio Moro, second generation and father of the third generation of the Moro family, was born. The winery’s youngest wine was first released in 1994 and its release generated a great stir in Ribera del Duero as it was the first young wine to incorporate oak in its production. Cherry red in colour with violet tones, it has a very expressive and fruity bouquet, where the personality of the 2023 vintage is reflected through the fruit balance, more inclined to red fruits. That said, the brand’s characteristic notes of black fruits with lactic nuances are also present. It is balanced and ripe, with a very pleasant and tasty palate that makes it a very appetising and easy wine to drink.Rating(s)$15.9012 -

2016 López de Heredia Viña Gravonia Crianza Blanco Rioja
Winery Notes- As “natural” a wine as any hipster newcomer, this entirely traditional rendition of Viura (aka Macabeo) is aged for four years in the house-made American oak barrels, fined with egg-whites, racked twice annually, bottled unfiltered and left another 4-plus years before commercial release. The result is a pale wonder of insurgent aromatic glory, tranquil complexity and endless length. Drink it now or keep it 30 more years.$47.905 -
2016 López de Heredia Viña Cubillo Crianza Rioja
Winery Notes- Redolent of red fruits, tomato and mint, equal parts rustic and refined, this earthy, lively red bears no resemblance to the current “international” style of Rioja, nor to the pale, oaky, “smooth” overcropped wines of the 1970’s. Cubillo stands out in today’s wine universe for the mannerliness and clarity of its expression and its unmistakable class.$25.906 -
2020 Marqués de Murrieta Reserva Rioja
Winery Notes- The first impression of this Marqués de Murrieta 2020 is a miscellany of raspberry, blueberry and cherry aromas enhanced by hints of thyme, rosemary and sandalwood. Straightforward and precise with a juicy fruity profile, moulded by fine tannins and a fresh, pleasant finish.$24.9024+ -
Lustau Manzanilla Papirusa Sherry
Winery Notes- Aged following a biological ageing, under a veil of yeast called “flor” in the cool, humid, salty air of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, a fishing town on the estuary of the Guadalquivir river. Bright yellow colour with golden reflections. This Manzanilla is laced with sea breeze scents and pleasant chamomile and flor aromas. Bone dry and light, fresh and crisp, with a hint of sea salt on the palate. Delicate and refreshingly acid with a lingering aftertaste. Papirusa means “elegant and beautiful”. It was the name of the doll that Emilio Lustau gave the daughter of Joaquín Burgos, first manager of Bodegas Lustau in the ’40s.$15.9010 -
Lustau Fino Jarana Sherry
Winery Notes- Pale straw colour with greenish reflections, bright and clean. This is a Jerez style Fino: fresh, mineral and pungent on the nose with almonds and bakery notes. Dry and crisp on the palate, yet rich and with a full finish. Aged under a veil of yeast, called “flor”, in Bodega Las Cruces in Jerez de la Frontera. The inland climate in the town of Jerez de la Frontera provides a more rounded and fuller style of wine.Rating(s)$15.9012 -
2019 La Rioja Alta Viña Alberdi Reserva Rioja
Winery Notes- Bright, deep ruby colour with intense dark cherry hues on the rim of the glass. It stands out for its intense ripe red fruit aromas like strawberries, raspberries and redcurrants complemented by pleasantly sweet spicy notes of vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. The palate is round, with lively freshness at the start and sweet, supple tannins, leading to a long, fruity and balsamic finish, so characteristic of Viña Alberdi.$21.9023 -
2019 Casa Castillo Las Gravas Jumilla
Not surprisingly, Las Gravas comes from a profoundly rocky, single vineyard of the same name. You’d also be hard-pressed to call it soil since before you can get to anything resembling dirt, you have to go through a foot of stones. Here Jose Maria and his father planted Monastrell, and Garnacha, each of which contributes to the final blend of Las Gravas. While the other cuvées from the estate show the unique expression of site and variety, Las Gravas is a broader lesson in terroir and the varieties that thrive here. Las Gravas is harvested by hand and fermented in underground stone tanks with manual pigeage. Once primary fermentation is complete, the wine is aged in 5000L foudres and 500L French oak demi-muids for 16 months. In most vintages, only 20% of the barrels are new.Rating(s)$39.9020 -
2021 Bodegas Muga El Andén De La Estación Rioja
Muga El Andén de la Estación Crianza is a new project launched in 2020 by the Muga family. As one of the most traditional yet forward thinking viticultural families in Rioja, the bodega has made significant investments in new vineyard holdings through planting and acquiring parcels from growers over the last 30 years. Andén de la Estación, a name which pays homage to the train station that was responsible for shipping wine from Rioja to Bordeaux during the phylloxera, was born out of the family's desire to produce a traditional style classically gastronomic Rioja Crianza, with a profile showcasing the Muga signature complemented by a youthful and fresh profile.Rating(s)$16.9013 -
2023 Bodegas Muga Rioja Rosado
Winery Notes- The Muga Rosado 2023 vintage is notable for its pale pink colour. It has a very intense, complex nose, with an initial sensation of peaches, apricots and white blossom. On the palate, it is very well balanced with the acidity integrated with the sensation of volume in the mouth and a very long finish which brings back the reminders of stone fruit and some citrus nuances. With an aftertaste in which we find stone fruit and citrus notes.Rating(s)$16.906 -
2019 Bodegas Muga Reserva Rioja
Winery Notes- This 2019 Reserva has a bright, ruby-red color, with medium depth and a garnet tinged rim. On the nose it proves to be a wine which is complex in aroma, in which primary aromas of fruit such as blueberries are enhanced by spicy nuances. On the palate it is long, balanced and elegant, with perfectly integrated acidity and smooth tannins. The finish is very long and fruity.$29.905 -
2021 Dominio de Pingus Psi Ribera del Duero
Winery Notes- PSI is the 23rd letter in the Greek alphabet and is the name of Peter Sisseck's (of the coveted Pingus and Flor de Pingus) utopian wine from Ribera del Duero. Peter has sought out the best independent vineyard growers in Ribera and is incentivizing them to improve viticultural practices and shun chemicals, lower yields and practice biodynamics by paying them increasingly for the fruit as they improve. The result is a "give back" to the region wine that also expresses the "soul" of Ribera.$29.9012 -
2022 La Caña Albariño Rías Baixas
Winery Notes- La Caña is a wine that Jorge Ordóñez and his winemaking team craft to demonstrate the potential that Albariño shows as a high quality, serious varietal. As Jorge was the first person to export this variety, he has a tremendous passion and appreciation for Albariño, and he decries the use of Albariño to make simplistic, mass-produced, and commerical wines.. La Caña demonstrates the complexity, intensity, and longevity Albariño can achieve when sourced from old vineyards and using serious winemaking practices.$19.904 -
2020 Casa Castillo La Tendida Jumilla
With the 2020 vintage, La Tendida replaces Vino de Finca, but it is not just a new label. La Tendida is the parcel name that is the source for both wines, but this cuvée is a selection of younger vine fruit from a particular terruño – a sandy clay-limestone soil covered in a deep layer of gravel. Despite the younger average age of these vines and no change in the winemaking, this is a more elegant, nuanced, and refined rendition of this parcel’s best soils, making the cuvée name, La Tendida, an obvious choice.$21.902 -
2015 López de Heredia Viña Cubillo Crianza Rioja
Winery Notes- Redolent of red fruits, tomato and mint, equal parts rustic and refined, this earthy, lively red bears no resemblance to the current “international” style of Rioja, nor to the pale, oaky, “smooth” overcropped wines of the 1970’s. Cubillo stands out in today’s wine universe for the mannerliness and clarity of its expression and its unmistakable class.$24.908 -
2011 López de Heredia Viña Bosconia Reserva Rioja
Winery Notes- Bosconia tends to be rounder and earthier than Tondonia, leading to Burgundy/Bordeaux comparisons. The vineyard is significantly smaller than Tondonia, which means that the supply is much more limited, which is sad for the secret circle that has a sneaking preference for Bosconia’s more sensual charms.$37.9012 -
2011 López de Heredia Viña Tondonia Reserva Rioja
Winery Notes- Tondonia typically stays in the oak a year longer than Bosconia, so this was released later. Despite the extra wood, sweet fruit and lead pencil notes dominate this wine, whose brightness and liveliness promise decades of potential. Ancient vines and great know-how ensure that Tondonia always delivers the goods. This is the one wine offered us by Lopez de Heredia whose supply is essentially unrestricted, so have at it! We do not know of a more consistent wine in existence.$49.9014 -
2010 Faustino I Gran Reserva Rioja
Winery Notes- Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo, the three classic Rioja grape varieties. Graciano provides a very lively color and high acidity; Mazuelo flavour and abundant tannin, both together with Tempranillo are the perfect coupage for long ageing wines. True to Rioja, true to its origins. Cherry red developing to an intense ruby color. Intense and complex. Well integrated sweet and warm hints with ripe fruit, notes of vanilla and sensations of cinnamon, blond tobacco and cocoa. Elegant in the mouth, structured and with good acidity. The finish is sweet and surprising for a Rioja Gran Reserva. There is an aftertaste of the blend of very ripe fruit, vanilla and roasted notes.$34.909 -
2018 Sierra Cantabria Unica Reserva Rioja
Winery Notes- Bright ruby. Expressive aromas of redcurrant, cherry, licorice. Juicy in the mouth, with red fruit flavors mixed with toasty vanilla and underlying mineral notes. Penetrating acidity extends the long, spicy, floral-dominated finish.Rating(s)$29.9011
