Winery Notes- Four plots across two vineyards contributed to this wine. From the Green Island, at the southern mouth of the Napa River, where the water spills into the San Pablo/San Francisco Bay, comes the prettiness of clone 115 and power of clone 667. Stanly Ranch, in Carneros just northwest across the Napa River from Green Island, provides clone 114 structure and robustness of clone 777. What a wine this 2021 Road 31 Napa Valley Pinot Noir is. Imagine Harry Potter, Gal Gadot, Elvis (the early days, not the donut-eating-sequin-wings years), and a 1962 Ferrari GTO all wrapped together in velour. 2022 Emmolo (Caymus) Napa Valley Merlot (Elsewhere $55)
Jenny Wagner, the youngest offspring of Chuck Wagner, renowned for Caymus wines, serves as the winemaker at Emmolo Winery, a namesake tribute to her mother, Cheryl Emmolo. The Emmolo family boasts a rich legacy deeply rooted in Napa Valley. In 1923, great-grandfather Salvatore Emmolo initiated a grape rootstock nursery, a tradition continued by his son Frank. Under Frank's stewardship, the family property saw the cultivation of Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot, marking a significant chapter in the Emmolo family's enduring connection with the Napa Valley. Nose: Cocktail cherries and sweet spice, with notes of savory bread, newly oiled leather and pronounced French oak. Palate: Smooth upon entry, with a richness that builds. Flavors of cherry, spice and savory bread carry over from the nose, with lush plums and a hint of jerky. Dusty, powdery tannins lend softness. 2022 Brewer-Clifton Machado Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir
Winery Notes- Looking to secure a mirror-image sister ranch to our 3D Vineyard, we began working with the Machado family in the winter of 2008. Our 15 acre parcel on their land is located adjacent to Clos Pepe and immediately behind the Kessler-Haak Vineyard. The site is marked by a gorgeous rolling terrain with sandy loam soils. At Machado, the majority of the planting is dedicated to pinot noir with equal amounts of such selections as Pommard, Merry Edwards, Mount Eden, and 459. In addition to pinot noir, we also planted a small, two-acre plot in the sandiest portion of the field to the Sweeney Canyon selection of chardonnay.$84.9017 -

Winery Notes- This lesser seen varietal, famously comprising the great reds from the Loire valley in France, finds a new home in the happy soils of the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. The warmth of the vintage blessed this wine with deep wild plum and wild red berry notes that invite you into deeper floral and earth tones.
