Winery Notes- I feel this wine expresses the greatness of California and its hidden pockets where Cabernet can excel. The cold Pacific Ocean running the entire length of the state presents maritime influences – and with each small distance eastward the climate warms. Stony soils, south facing slopes and moderately warm conditions are the keys to producing dark, rich and good tasting Cabernet. This wine stems from excitement over California’s diverse vineyard land, often in lesser-known areas, that can produce exceptional Cabernet. We search for sites with climatic conditions, soils and topography ideally suited to Cabernet – places from Paso Robles to lesser-known areas in Lake, San Benito and Monterey Counties. 2024 Cade Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc
Winery Notes- The 2024 has aromas of pear, yellow apple, honeysuckle, white peach, mango, pineapple, guava, and tropical fruits. On the palate are flavors of lemon, green apple, Bartlett pear, grapefruit, honeydew melon, lemon custard, lemon grass, and passion fruit. The wine finishes with a vibrant acidity and a beautiful creamy texture. The addition of Viognier and the Sauvignon Musqué adds a lot of the honeysuckle and floral notes. Jenny Wagner, the youngest offspring of Chuck Wagner, renowned for Caymus wines, serves as the winemaker at Emmolo Winery, a namesake tribute to her mother, Cheryl Emmolo. The Emmolo family boasts a rich legacy deeply rooted in Napa Valley. In 1923, great-grandfather Salvatore Emmolo initiated a grape rootstock nursery, a tradition continued by his son Frank. Under Frank's stewardship, the family property saw the cultivation of Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot, marking a significant chapter in the Emmolo family's enduring connection with the Napa Valley. Nose: Cocktail cherries and sweet spice, with notes of savory bread, newly oiled leather and pronounced French oak. Palate: Smooth upon entry, with a richness that builds. Flavors of cherry, spice and savory bread carry over from the nose, with lush plums and a hint of jerky. Dusty, powdery tannins lend softness. The word was actually the progenitor of the wine. “When I heard it, I thought it was so much fun and I should make a wine called Leviathan,” Andy has said. It became the perfect symbol embodying the vision to create a single, expansive wine fed by multiple unique sites – our California vineyard exploration. It also served as the inspiration for the label, designed by Michael McDermott in collaboration with Andy. A Leviathan is something unusually huge, and Michael wanted the label to reflect that. 2022 Thacher Working Holiday Paso Robles Rhône Blend
The “KR” on our barn is a well-known landmark of old-time Paso Robles. The Kentucky Ranch- our home, winery, vineyard, and gardens were part of a 4,000-acre Spanish Land Grant until 1869, after which it became a thriving horse breeding operation. Our ranch includes the 1920s KR barn, outbuildings, our home, barley fields, and riparian habitat for deer, coyotes, bobcats, turkeys, and the occasional mountain lion. Since 2004, Thacher Winery, with the grasshopper label, has been hand-crafting wines grown in superb Central Coast vineyards. Our small lot production demonstrates local subtleties and terroir. Construction of the tasting room and 4,600 square foot, solar powered winery was completed in 2008, just in time for our fourth harvest of about 33 tons of premium wine grapes. Today total production is approximately 5,000 cases of low-intervention and all native ferments that are created in the vineyard. Our mission is to grow unique, and food-friendly wines that purely express the terroirs of the exceptional vineyards we farm throughout the Central Coast.$24.9019 -
