Winery Notes- This Chardonnay is from blocks planted for Patz & Hall in 1997 and 1999 using the famous “Hyde Wente” selection of Chardonnay. The 2022 Hyde Chardonnay demonstrates why this vineyard has been a three-star, acclaimed Patz & Hall offering for over 30 years. The just ripe pomaceous fruit mingles seamlessly with the vanilla spice from careful new French oak ageing. Evidence of lees contact show by richness of palate and a nuance of toast and flint. Winery Notes- After three of the most challenging seasons in recent years, with consecutive extreme drought conditions and heat events, 2023 came as a redemption year. The year started with a wet and cold Winter. Spring and early Summer remained cool and overcast, with only a handful of warmer days. Consequently, Harvest was delayed by almost 6 weeks compared to a 10-year average. The waiting was nerve-racking, as early rains and cool Falls are not uncommon in Napa. Moderate weather continued through September and early October, allowing for extended hang time. The crop was balanced and generous, resulting in wines of refined purity and detailed precision.$84.9013 -
