From the Green Island, at the southern mouth of the Napa River, where the water spills into the San Pablo/San Francisco Bay, comes the prettiness of clone 115 and power of clone 667. Stanly Ranch, in Carneros just northwest across the Napa River from Green Island, provides clone 114 structure and robustness of clone 777. What a wine this 2021 Road 31 Napa Valley Pinot Noir is. 2023 Domaine Dujac Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Aux Combottes
Winery Notes- Les Combottes, a locality south of the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, lies halfway up the hill, just below the steep incline of Les Monts Luisants, in a steeply sloping area (5–6%). Ranging in altitude from 271 to 282 meters, this lieu-dit faces due east. The soil changes from east to west. In the eastern part of the plot, the reddish-brown soil is 40 to 50 cm thick, containing angular-to-rounded limestone fragments. In the western part of the lieu-dit, the soil is rich in fine angular limestone gravel. The underlying substratum Les Combottes is ocher-colored crinoidal limestone (limestone in Entroques), rich in debris from marine organisms. To the west, this layer is overlain by bedded limestone scree (grèzes litées), covering the upper part of the slope. This Comblanchien limestone scree is composed of fine angular gravel..$389.905
