2024 Dönnhoff Kreuznacher Krötenpfuhl Riesling Kabinett Nahe
The loess loam soil of the Krötenpfuhl vineyard is notable for its high share of gravelly quartzite. Between the stony ground and its southern aspect, this neighbor to the Kahlenberg is known for warm soils and early flowering of the vines year after year. The loess loam substrate retains water well, ensuring the vines have sufficient moisture even in drought years. Vines growing in this type of pebbly soil tend to produce small berries with delicate aromas, a lively acidity and a long hang time.$29.908 -
2024 Aphros Loureiro Vinho Verde Portugal
Founded in 2002, Aphros is a project designed to combine ecological and economical aspects to create true sustainability. Their belief is that nature and labor should combine in a meaningful way and they seek to capture this through Biodynamic viticulture, letting the uniqueness of the land shine through the fruit for inimitable wines. Loureiro and Vinhão have grown in these vineyards for centuries and serve as the reference point for the region. The grapes are sourced from the Lima sub-region and the vines of Casal do Paço are situated in a south facing amphitheater north of the Lima River on gentle slopes with cool Atlantic breezes. The winemaking is traditional, taking place in the basement beneath the main house. The cave is buried and naturally cool and damp. They once again straddle the line between modern and traditional character with the addition of modern stainless steel equipment and traditional open top lagars, granite stone tanks, for red wine production.$19.9012 -
2024 Pieropan Soave Classico
Winery Notes- Our liveliest and most youthful style from Soave Classico, the Pieropan family has been producing this wine since the early 1900’s. Generous, pleasingly fresh and versatile, it is made from the traditional varieties of Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave grown in family-owned vineyards situated in the Soave Classico region.$19.907 -
2024 Hanna Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc
Winery Notes- I am reminded of a sales trip to Chicago years ago. I proffered our SB to the wine buyer at Green Dolphin Street. A whiff ensued. Then a silent turn to from the bar to retrieve a bottle of Lychee liqueur which was poured and thrust into my hand. The similarity was amazing, as is our ‘24. Our 2024 Sauvignon Blanc has layers of quince, makrut lime, yuzu and pink grapefruit zest with notes of bosc pear, pink lady apple, sencha and even a bit of trillium bloom. By mouth it fresh as spring and round as rain with a delicate, inviting poise.Rating(s)$16.905 -
2024 Schloss Gobelsburg Schlosskellerei Grüner Veltliner Kamptal
For this wine, the grapes are from the best sites around the Heiligenstein (Lamm, Grub and Renner). The Grüner Veltliner is grown in young vineyards (under 20 years old) of the former Steiner Allerheiligenstiftung, a religious foundation that dates back to 1171.Rating(s)$17.9010 -
2024 Hiedler Löss Grüner Veltliner Kamptal
The ‘Loess’ Grüner Veltliner is sourced from vines growing on the eponymous loess soils. They have been formed over the millennia by deposits of weathering alpine rock, crushed under the weight of ice age glaciers. Enormous storms have deposited this dust in various mineral compositions of clays, lime, quartz and mica, as well as in the southern Kamptal. The mineral-rich and porous soil, in which the vines form a deep root system, characterizes the typical bright fruit and cool spice of this Veltliner.Rating(s)$19.907 -
2024 Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough
Winery Notes- Deliciously aromatic with scents of honeydew melon and orange blossom, delicately infused with herb garden botanicals. A bright, seasonal expression, with juicy lemon and steely cassis flavours and a generously textured palate garnished with a flourish of pastis and wildflowers. A wine with impressive structure and depth, this is Marlborough sauvignon blanc with the volume turned down a notch.$19.901 -
2022 Frank Family Carneros Chardonnay (375ml Half Bottle)
This wine is a testament to the Carneros region, brimming with Meyer lemon, yellow apple, and salted butterscotch notes. Concentrated layers of spices and creamy vanilla meld with well-integrated oak and elegant waves of fresh acidity on the palate.Rating(s)$19.904 -
2022 Hampton Water Languedoc Rosé
Winery Notes- The wine is fresh and lively, with soft notes of strawberry, and citrus; a beautiful, long finish is a result of its careful and meticulous aging in new French Oak barrels.Rating(s)$16.9012 -
2022 Soléna Willamette Valley Pinot Gris
Winery Notes- This Pinot Gris strikes that elusive balance of creamy, refreshing, and fruit-forward. It is refreshing and delicious on it’s own, but even better with food. The wine begins with aromas of honeysuckle blossom and green apple. Upon first sip the palate is luscious and juicy. Flavors of lemon zest, lychee and pear turn into a clean mineral finish.Rating(s)$19.902 -
2022 Astrolabe Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough
#15 Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2023 Winery Notes- Sauvignon blanc is widely considered by the wine drinkers of the world to reach its pinnacle of potential in Marlborough. The Astrolabe Province Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is made from grapes grown across three Marlborough sub-regions: the Wairau Valley, the Awatere Valley and the Kēkerengū Coast. The blend of sites, soils and aspects within this wine gives it great complexity, reflecting both the capability of the region as a whole and my own palate. I have sought out sites across the whole Marlborough wine region, looking for different soils and climates and carefully managing cropping levels so that I have the best fruit to work from.
We machine harvest the grapes at night or in the cool parts of the day to preserve the purity and intensity of flavours. In the winery, I take great care to handle the fruit in a way which allows the flavours and aromas of the region to come through. At the end of the growing season, I look at all the wines I have made from the various sub-regions and try to put together the most complete and balanced, integrated version of a Marlborough sauvignon blanc.
I blend to suit what I think is Astrolabe’s style, which reflects what I’ve learnt as a winemaker and drinker over the years. My style is dry, expressive and elegantly balanced. For me it is about getting a lovely sense of fully developed green spectrum flavours from all these different sites and putting them in a glass in a way that is well-styled and elegant. My Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc always presents with ripe green flavours like passionfruit, blackcurrant leaf and gooseberry. In the palate, it is full and round and finishes dry and lingering.
This is a drier style of sauvignon blanc, acidity kept nicely in balance with the alcohol and the very little residual sugar that is there, so it’s all about how all these things come together to make a pleasurable whole. I craft my wines so that nothing stands out as one singular spike, instead revealing a lovely layering of flavours and aromas that people can keep finding as they spend time savouring the glass.

2022 Mason Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc
Winery Notes- Our Mason 2022 Sauvignon Blanc greets the nose with grapefruit, floral and honeysuckle. The bright, refreshing, silky palate offers grapefruit and minerality leading into a long, bright finish. This wine is a stunner with extraordinary mouthfeel and texture.Rating(s)$16.9024+ -
2022 Pine Ridge California Chenin Blanc-Viognier
Winery Notes- Crisp, bright, and vivacious! The Chenin aromatics bring citrus characters of lime, orange blossom, honey suckle, ginger, and melon. The viognier aromatics tend to be a little heavier on stone fruit of nectarine and peach with hints of floral characters. The mouthfeel is clean, crisp with no oak or malolactic fermentation. The slight residual sugar and acid are in balance to add some mouthfeel but still create a crisp finish. This versatile wine pairs well with a number of dishes, from light salads to seafood, and most notably with foods with a hint of spiciness – its subtle sweetness provides balance alongside a touch of heat. It’s the perfect pour for the start of an evening with appetizers such as goat cheese, radishes, and olives. Also try with a flavorful Thai curry, a frittata with sweet onions and ricotta, or a shrimp and avocado tostada.Rating(s)$12.904
