2020 Rouget, Pomerol

Winery Notes- Despite a winter with cumulated rainfall largely above average value (650mm in 2020 vs. 430mm in average), the budburst started quite early in the end of March. During the first half of April, the summer-like temperatures, between 22 and 26 degrees Celsius, kicked off the growth of the vine. In mid-May, most of the plots were at the flowering stage. The clay soils of the right bank, gorged with water during winter and spring, allowed the vine to endure the summer heat wave. The harvests started very early, on September 15th, 2020 and ended a fortnight later. The wines are smooth and fruity, and have a beautiful concentration, with tension and a lot of freshness. 2020 presents itself as an attractive, charming and accessible vintage, combining the roundness of 2018, and the fresh and velvety tannins of 2019.

2022 Domaine Dujac Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Aux Combottes

Winery Notes- Les Combottes, a locality south of the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, lies halfway up the hill, just below the steep incline of Les Monts Luisants, in a steeply sloping area (5–6%). Ranging in altitude from 271 to 282 meters, this lieu-dit faces due east. The soil changes from east to west. In the eastern part of the plot, the reddish-brown soil is 40 to 50 cm thick, containing angular-to-rounded limestone fragments. In the western part of the lieu-dit, the soil is rich in fine angular limestone gravel. The underlying substratum Les Combottes is ocher-colored crinoidal limestone (limestone in Entroques), rich in debris from marine organisms. To the west, this layer is overlain by bedded limestone scree (grèzes litées), covering the upper part of the slope. This Comblanchien limestone scree is composed of fine angular gravel.

2022 Brewer-Clifton Machado Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir

Winery Notes- Looking to secure a mirror-image sister ranch to our 3D Vineyard, we began working with the Machado family in the winter of 2008. Our 15 acre parcel on their land is located adjacent to Clos Pepe and immediately behind the Kessler-Haak Vineyard. The site is marked by a gorgeous rolling terrain with sandy loam soils. At Machado, the majority of the planting is dedicated to pinot noir with equal amounts of such selections as Pommard, Merry Edwards, Mount Eden, and 459. In addition to pinot noir, we also planted a small, two-acre plot in the sandiest portion of the field to the Sweeney Canyon selection of chardonnay.
