2023 Sapaio Volpolo Bolgheri
The estate Podere Sapaio was founded in 1999. Its 40 hectars are spread between the Councils of Castagneto Carducci and Bibbona. Grape varieties of Bordeaux origin -Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot-, which in the last fifty years have imposed themselves in the area, are grown in lands of quaternary deposits. Other grape varieties are present in small quantities. There are also some hectares of land, which are part of the estate, where Frantoio, Moraiolo and Leccino cultivars of olive trees are grown.$31.9024+ -
2023 Caymus California Cabernet Sauvignon
Winery Notes- I feel this wine expresses the greatness of California and its hidden pockets where Cabernet can excel. The cold Pacific Ocean running the entire length of the state presents maritime influences – and with each small distance eastward the climate warms. Stony soils, south facing slopes and moderately warm conditions are the keys to producing dark, rich and good tasting Cabernet. This wine stems from excitement over California’s diverse vineyard land, often in lesser-known areas, that can produce exceptional Cabernet. We search for sites with climatic conditions, soils and topography ideally suited to Cabernet – places from Paso Robles to lesser-known areas in Lake, San Benito and Monterey Counties. With ripe fruit and luxurious tannins, this wine reveals the Caymus character, and is drinkable upon release or with age.$39.9019 -
2023 Othello by Dominus Estate Napa Red Wine
Winery Notes- Produced from the historic Napanook vineyard in Yountville, California, Othello is a wine that expresses the singularity of its exceptional terroir and is accessible and enjoyable in its youth. A Bordeaux blend, the wine is forthcoming with lovely aromas of red fruit, round, silky tannins and an abounding brightness. It was at the famed Napanook vineyard that Christian Moueix established Dominus Estate in 1983. An historical site, it was the source of fruit for some of the finest Napa Valley wines in the 1940’s and 1950’s. Notably, the vineyard’s history can be traced back to Napa Valley’s beginnings, when in 1838 George Yount, for whom the town of Yountville was named, first planted grapevines there. Today, the vineyard produces three wines: Dominus, its flagship, Napanook, and Othello. A model for its sustainable farming practices, the Napanook vineyard has been hailed for its dry-farming, which shuns watering the vines, thus spurring them to draw deeply on the land’s unique geology. Meticulous viticultural and winemaking practices are undertaken with the objective of producing wines that are pure, balanced and complex. Minimal intervention and restraint throughout the process of grape berry selection, fermentation and aging preserve the character of the fruit. Press lightly to maintain optimum fruitiness. Assembly of 50% limestone, 30% clay-limestone and 20% flint. Each soil is vinified separately in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats, the limestone brings minerality and finesse; the clay-limestone brings the fruit, the richness and the flint brings the structure and the minerality. 2023 Aperture Soil Specific Alexander Valley Sauvignon Blanc
Winery Notes- The 2023 sauvignon blanc incorporates our estate-grown sémillion and sauvignon musqué, that we planted on the Aperture property in 2019. These two estate blocks were hand-harvested in early September at the same time as the Sauvignon Blanc from Farrow Ranch in Geyserville. The sauvignon blanc from Dry Stack Vineyard in the Bennett Valley AVA was brought to the winery in early October, consistent with this vineyard’s unique late-ripening characteristics.$36.908 -

#51 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2025 Winery Notes- Great vintages are often signaled early in a wine’s life. Mere weeks into existence, the richness, balance and power of 2023 was clear. Carefully sourced Napa Valley vineyards produced great dividends with a perfect marriage of round tannin and supple fruit. Brilliant scarlet red on the rim, denoting a pronounced natural acidity, the wine quickly finds depth in an opaque, violet hue. A rich nose of crushed minerals and red/black berry fruit fills the glass, framed by dusky, dark violets. Complexity on the initial palate girds the expectation of an unbridled wine. Like gentle giant, this wine clearly has a powerful build but conveys a restrained intensity. Soft tannins marked by toasty oak and a wide frame of confit red and purple fruits mark the midpalate. Winery Notes- On the palate, this wine presents fennel/anise and black liquorice flavours that pave the way for fine yet powerful mouthcoating tannins. The weighty structure carries savoury nuances (artisanal charcuterie paired with tangy barberries) adding layers of complexity. Cherry nuances – both cherry pip tartness and white cherry subtle sweetness – play off each other elegantly. 2021 Ulysses Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Ulysses vineyard was acquired in 2008 by Christian Moueix. Situated along Napa Valley’s Oakville bench and extending over an alluvial fan at the foot of the Mayacamas Range, the site was once part of the famed Charles Hopper ranch and it is exceptional for winegrowing. The soil is composed of deep, gravelly, clay loam and is particularly well-suited to growing Cabernet Sauvignon. Since the acquisition, Christian Moueix and his team have pursued an in-depth understanding of the soil and microclimate and have undertaken a lengthy and meticulous vineyard restoration. Dry farming, the foundation of Ulysses’ sustainable farming practices, enhances root depth and resistance to drought, resulting in a wine that is a pure expression of terroir. The winemaking team’s intention is to produce a wine reflecting the exceptional potential and individuality of the Ulysses vineyard. The approach is minimalist, with attentive observation and restrained intervention. Harvested at perfect ripeness with the utmost care, the grapes undergo both cluster and berry selection before a gentle vinification and aging. Ulysses is a distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon with a touch of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. It should be decanted prior to serving. Winery Notes- This is a wine that celebrates all of the team plus our extraordinary growers. It is a result of happy soils, healthy vines, low crop yield, low to no irrigation, harvest at high ripeness levels — these are the key ingredients of the Caymus style. This vintage especially exhibits an expression of the style which Caymus is known for and I feel is as singular as our approach to making it. Rich and round on the palate, with tannins expressed in a textural manner that are non-bitter. Evidence of French oak, but not overplayed. Acidity enough for balance, but not tart to the palate. The Caymus style allows the consumer to face no hurdles in tasting and enjoying the delicious essence of the wine.$37.9017
