2019 Dom Jean-Claude Marsanne Saint-Joseph Rouge
In a 1998 newsletter, Kermit praised Saint-Joseph’s accessible charm: “It seems miraculous, a big, juicy, fleshy, flavorful Syrah that you don’t have to wait on, that you should not wait on.” Marsanne’s 2019 would be KL’s cup of tea, the kind of Saint-Jo to dig into right away: smoky, layered, lush, and laced with violet, bay leaf, and black olive. At table, its fine tannin and granite core marry well with indulgent snacks like duck pâté, or alongside pan-seared mains like garlicky lamb chops or steak au poivre. Though you needn’t wait to open, once you have, it would be foolish not to take your time with this one.$29.909 -
2019 Arista Russian River Valley Chardonnay
Winery Notes- The Russian River Valley Chardonnay is a blend of three Russian River Valley Chardonnay vineyards: El Diablo Vineyard on Eastside Road, Banfield Vineyard on Martinelli Road, and Ritchie Vineyard on Eastside Road. This wine is made with modest amount of new oak to allow the fruit to take center stage and has a great richness and silkiness, yet still possessing firm structure. Notes of brioche, yellow peach, panna cotta, and white flowers greet the nose, while flavors of tangy limeade, pear nectar, lemon zest are buoyed by a savory and mouth-watering mix of acid and minerals on the finish.$69.907 -
2020 Ramey Woolsey Road Vineyard Russian River Valley Chardonnay (Was $80)
Winery Notes- The pinnacle of everything we’ve learned and accomplished, the Martinelli Family planted Woolsey Road to our exacting specifications. The resulting Chardonnay is laser focused. Owned by the Martinelli family, the vineyard was planted specifically for us at their invitation. We were able to provide them with Old Wente cuttings from Hyde Vineyard. Woolsey Road benefits from two greats in the Chardonnay world: it originates from the Hyde family’s cuttings of Old Wente and is farmed by the third and fourth generations of the Martinelli family. Pictured is Lee Martinelli Sr. tending vines with the fifth generation. We press whole grape clusters for phenolic delicacy. Native yeast and full native malolactic fermentation take place in barrel, with sur lies bâtonnage. After aging 20 months in 20% new François Frères and Taransaud Beaune French oak barrels, the Chardonnay was traditionally fined for clarity and texture and bottled without filtration.$64.904 -

Winery Notes- Few wineries have the privilege of making a Rochioli Vineyard wine. Virtually all are turned down. Mutual respect and a legacy of quality built our families’ partnership. The Rochioli family has grown grapes on their property since the late ‘50s. The vineyard is now farmed by the third generation. Our 2020 Rochioli blend is 82% Mid-40 block and 18% River block. We press whole grape clusters for phenolic delicacy. Native yeast and full native malolactic fermentation take place in barrel, with sur lies bâtonnage. After aging 20 months in 20% new François Frères and Taransaud Beaune French oak barrels, the Chardonnay was traditionally fined for clarity and texture and bottled without filtration.$64.905 -
2020 Saxum G2 Willow Creek District Rhône Blend
Winery Notes- This vineyard keeps getting stronger and stronger as the vines mature and we get a handle on taming this rugged, mountainous fruit. It’s definitely more black fruit focused than the JBV, and a little more dense and chewy, not quite as savory, but it still has a nice loamy earth side to it. I think it’s a show stopper. The tannins are remarkable but will definitely benefit from a few years of aging (as will all of our wines). A real banger.$194.902 -
2020 Williams Selyem Eastside Road Neighbors Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Winery Notes- A knockout nose of berry fruits and sassafras jump from the glass in this terrific offering from the eastern hills above the Russian River. Notes of Asian spices, fennel, and a hint of earthiness are woven together with the fruit elements to create a multifaceted aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine is equally as complex, with berry fruits flavors and the zing of zesty tangerine peel. With robust tannins on the palate, the 2020 Eastside Road Neighbors Pinot Noir is buffered by rich fruit character and an earthy complexion that finishes with a weighty minerality.$94.901 -

Winery Notes- Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at controlled temperature and maceration lasts for about 12 days for both the Cabernet Sauvignon to the Sangiovese. It is then aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels and for a further three months in the bottle. The wine is distinguished by a good structure and is extremely supple making it very pleasant and drinkable.
