2023 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru Champans
Winery Notes- Domaine Marquis d'Angerville owns 3.98 hectares in the Champans appellation, located just north of the Caillerets appellation. Two parallel plots make up our part of the appellation (11 hectares in total). They extend from the top to the bottom of the Champans climate and the hillside, thus taking advantage of all the characteristics of this remarkable terroir facing south-east, located in the centre of the Premiers Crus de Volnay. The soil is poorer and rests on a rocky limestone bank at the top of the hillside while the slope decreases towards the bottom and it becomes more clayey, stony and deeper. Historically classified as a Têtes de Cuvée de Volnay, Champans is the archetype of the great Volnay 1 er cru: finesse, fullness and length in the mouth with an extra generosity and power of its own. Depending on the vintage, it deserves 5 to 10 years of ageing to fully reveal itself, but it is generally more easily approached young than Taillepieds or Clos des Ducs.$229.903 -
2021 Stags' Leap Winery Napa Valley Petite Sirah
Winery Notes- Captivates with a fragrant nose of bramble berry fruit, freshly baked blackberry pie, boysenberry, black plum, and black cherry cobbler, with hints of graham cracker crust, lifted lavender, and thyme. Voluptuous, vibrant, and lithe with juicy acidity that accentuates the abundant dark berry fruit. Sinewy, firm tannins lend a viscous texture, while the long and punchy finish leaves a lasting impression. Balanced and beautiful, this Petite Sirah shows restraint and elegance, with subtle oak integration.$36.9011 -
2023 The Vice The Porterhouse Coombsville Napa Valley Petite Sirah (Was $60)
Winery Notes- Inky, dense and highly aromatic with highlights of huckleberry and violets. Potent and rich with bold personality, the huge mouthfeel offers layers of blueberry wrapped around velvety smooth tannins. The finish goes on and on. Since this Petite Sirah is unfiltered and un-fined, it will continue to be plush and juicy for years to come and slowly reveal notes of sandalwood, white pepper, tobacco and spice.$34.906 -
2023 Road 31 Napa Valley Pinot Noir
Winery Notes- Four plots across two vineyards contributed to this wine. From the Green Island, at the southern mouth of the Napa River, where the water spills into the San Pablo/San Francisco Bay, comes the prettiness of clone 115 and power of clone 667. Stanly Ranch, in Carneros just northwest across the Napa River from Green Island, provides clone 114 structure and robustness of clone 777. What a wine this 2021 Road 31 Napa Valley Pinot Noir is. Imagine Harry Potter, Gal Gadot, Elvis (the early days, not the donut-eating-sequin-wings years), and a 1962 Ferrari GTO all wrapped together in velour. Pull the cork and you may find yourself suddenly reciting Shakespearean sonnets from memory, understanding string theory, and feeling an inexplicable desire — and capability — to dance the tango like a blind Al Pacino. Yes, it is that good.$44.9024+ -
2022 Emmolo (Caymus) Napa Valley Merlot (Elsewhere $55)
Jenny Wagner, the youngest offspring of Chuck Wagner, renowned for Caymus wines, serves as the winemaker at Emmolo Winery, a namesake tribute to her mother, Cheryl Emmolo. The Emmolo family boasts a rich legacy deeply rooted in Napa Valley. In 1923, great-grandfather Salvatore Emmolo initiated a grape rootstock nursery, a tradition continued by his son Frank. Under Frank's stewardship, the family property saw the cultivation of Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot, marking a significant chapter in the Emmolo family's enduring connection with the Napa Valley. Nose: Cocktail cherries and sweet spice, with notes of savory bread, newly oiled leather and pronounced French oak. Palate: Smooth upon entry, with a richness that builds. Flavors of cherry, spice and savory bread carry over from the nose, with lush plums and a hint of jerky. Dusty, powdery tannins lend softness. French oak character comes through on the nose, palate and lingering finish.$39.9019 -
2022 Duckhorn Napa Valley Merlot
Winery Notes- This wine opens with an alluring nose of floral notes and dark red berries, characteristic of a quintessential Napa Valley Merlot. The palate is supple and polished with a seamless integration of fruit and tannin, enhanced by the inclusion of Cabernet Sauvignon and a hint of Cabernet Franc. The long, vibrant finish highlights meticulous craftsmanship and perfect balance.$46.904 -
2021 Green & Red Tip Top Vineyard Napa Valley Petite Sirah
Winery Notes- The grapes for this Petite Sirah come from the highest point of Tip Top Vineyard, just touching 2000 feet in elevation. This west facing block, while one of the warmer spots on the property, is constantly buffeted by strong mountain winds pulled inland from the coast. This mix of sun and wind provides ideal growing conditions for our Petite Sirah. A deeply pigmented wine, it is layered with aromas of blackberry galette, dried clover, and sage. Soft, velvety tannins accompany refreshing acidity.$33.9014 -
2021 Pride Mountain Napa County Merlot
Winery Notes- More than any other Bordelaise variety, merlot is defined by the fruit it brings to your glass. In our 2021 Merlot, core aromas of blackberry and just-ripe plum are layered over complex notes of bay and dark chocolate, with subtle hints of black cherry and temperate forest entice even further.$68.908
