2021 Roederer Estate Clark Road Vineyard Anderson Valley Brut Sparkling Wine
Winery Notes- Clark Road Vineyard is a handmade bottling. This vineyard is on the cool west side of Anderson Valley, where Pinot Noir thrives. We are intimately familiar with this site, which we have been farming since 1999. During those years, we have learned that we can leave the fruit on the vine longer than other sites, and as we allow it to ripen, it develops the juicy acidity so essential to top-quality sparkling wine. Clark Road was partially fermented in casks (7%) and with a small amount of reserve wine aged in casks (4.8%) to give the Roederer Estate family touch. 2016 Louis Roederer Brut Champagne
Winery Notes- Shimmering golden hue with bright highlights. Very fine, even and fast-flowing bubbles. The gently toasted and powdery bouquet discloses a blend of ripe, sweet, juicy red fruit (Burlat cherry and redcurrant jam foam), candied, roasted citrus fruit, and dried nuts (hazelnuts) wrapped in soft roasted notes. After a short aeration, the wine reveals notes of a more mineral nature: warm, damp chalk and calcareous millstone heated by the sun. The palate is complex, generous and kaleidoscopic. It commences with a juicy, creamy body in which the ripe fruit comes through again in the form of nectarine. It is like biting into the fruit! The creamy, silky bubbles dance lightly across the palate and tongue, drawing out and lengthening the creamy substance leaving a rich yet translucent imprint. We have the impression of completeness created by some mineral and textured elements, which are underpinned by spicy, oaky, powdery and almost camphorous notes. Winery Notes- Lovely golden yellow hue. Steady lively bubbles. Bouquet of yellow fruits (nectarine) and ripe, concentrated citrus (lemon) complemented by sweet notes of petals, pollen, sugared almonds and wheat. We find an impressively ripe, complex and intense fruit which elevates the pure and intense bouquet interwoven with smoky overtones. The palate is velvety, unctuous, rich and juicy. The bubbles have an almost saline character to them and coat the palate with a broad and concentrated texture. The wine reveals an exceptional balance between structure and a crisp, powdery, saline chalky freshness. Smoky and slightly oaky notes linger on a deliciously well-honed finish.$54.907 -

H. Billiot Brut Reserve Champagne
Laetitia Billiot is the fourth generartion to estate bottle Champagnes at this domaine in the Grand Cru Village of Ambonnay. Her Great Grandfather Louis Billiot bottled small amounts of wine, but it was his son and Laetitia’s Grandfather Henri that created estate today. Laetitia’s father Serge took over in 1954 quickly establishing himself as a top producer, producing a range of wines from his Grand Cru holdings in Ambonnay. Today, Laetitia continues the tradition, working 5 hectares in Ambonnay. Of the 18 parcels that Billiot works, all but one of them are mid slope, in the most desirable sections of this famous village. “The wines of Ambonnay are very vinous, with a lot of strength,” says Laetitia Billiot,“but they are also very fine, with delicacy and finesse. They stay fresh for a long time.” The wines are pressed in traditional vertical basket presses and vinified in stainless steel, Apart from one barrel fermented vintage wine, called “Cuvee Julie”. The wines don’t see Mal: “We have 100-percent grand cru vines, which always give a high degree of maturity, so we don’t need the malo.” Says Laetitia. The wines are also never stabilized or filtered prior to bottling.$44.906 -
Gaston Chiquet Cuvée de Réserve Premier Cru Brut Champagne
Nicolas Chiquet farms 23 hectares in the Valle de la Marne in the villages of Ay, Dizy, Hautvillers and Mareuil-sur-Ay. All of the fruit (including that which is used in the non-vintage cuvee) comes from premier and grand cru grapes. Nicolas does not employ any oak aging at Gaston Chiquet; he believes that concentration, fruit maturity and malolactic fermentation impart enough body and texture to make aging in barrel unnecessary. The vineyards are planted to equal (forty percent each) parts chardonnay, pinot meunier and twenty percent are planted to pinot noir. Gaston-Chiquet also produces a vintage dated chardonnay from 5 parcels on the western side of the grand cru village of Ay. Usually recognized as a grand cru village for pinot noir, these vines of chardonnay were planted in Ay in the 1930s.$47.902 -
Verrier & Fils Brut Tradition Champagne
Winery Notes- The colour of this Cuvée Tradition, a yellow-gold of low intensity and marked by light green reflections, announces a wine expressing youth and freshness. The effervescence, fine and slow, feeds a small string of foam. The general presentation, classic, is ultimately very "champagne". The first nose, of medium intensity, confirms this impression. Scents of citrus, white flowers, fresh biscuits on a mineral background give a feeling of youth reminiscent of spring. With aeration, this trend is maintained with an even more present minerality and a few shades of green wood. Primary aromas of fruit and secondary aromas of biscuits dominate the expression of this wine. Freshness, finesse and minerality are the key words. After more than thirty minutes in the flute, the "air holding" is remarkable. The wine retains all the finesse of its expression, which is a sign of stability over time. The attack on the palate is fresh and offers a nice marriage between acidity and the dosage of the wine. The effervescence is in the background. The development in the mouth is then very gentle. Acid structure, sugar dosage, effervescence and vinosity are balanced. This feeling of "melting" generates both an impression of lightness and a caressing, smooth texture. The finish, quite long, leaves a tangy and mineral impression. The limestone note is perceptible at the very end, round and fresh, light and fine, this rather "greedy" and easy to approach wine is a seducer.$39.9019 -
Alfred Gratien Brut Rosé Champagne
Winery Notes- The colour is a deep pink with delicate hints of purple. Very fine sparkle with an attractive ring of bubbles on the surface of the wine. Initially intense on the nose. Ranging between fresh red fruit (especially cherry), pink grapefruit and mineral touches. The oak is subtle rather than obtrusive. This is a subtle nose that needs some swirling. On the palate the wine has a beautiful base of acidity. It is lively from the attack right through to the finish. This is balanced out by vinosity and viscosity. The red fruit and biscuit notes remain all the way into the finish. The finish is powerful, vinous and lingering, delicately saline and astringent.$54.905 -
