2020 Castello Banfi Poggio Alle Mura Brunello di Montalcino (Was $120)
Winery Notes- A Brunello crafted from estate vineyards, identified as the most suitable for Sangiovese by the zonation studies, initiated in 1980. Mild temperatures and low rainfall during the winter and spring periods favored the early development of the vines. In June, there were several rainfall events accompanied by mild temperatures, which allowed for a surprising vegetative and productive balance in the vineyards. The other summer months were warm and sunny, enabling perfect veraison and ripening of the grapes. The harvest occurred earlier than usual. The grapes, in perfect condition thanks to good temperature variations and the absence of rain, exhibited excellent aromatic profiles and good acidity. The result is a Brunello with great personality. Intense ruby red color with a complex aromatic structure, highlighted by notes of blackberry and plum jam, combined with spicy hints of tobacco. On the palate, it is balanced and elegant, with soft, mature, and well-integrated tannins. The finish is persistent. It is a long aging wine which pairs excellently with rich and succulent dishes, as well as ripe cheeses. Perfect as a meditation wine.$89.905 -

2022 Le Chiuse Rosso di Montalcino
Winery Notes- For many it is the little brother of Brunello di Montalcino, but for us Rosso di Montalcino is a wine of distinct personality. Coming out in the second year after the harvest, it is the youngest of our wines, meaning that it is also the wine that best expresses the varietal character of Sangiovese in its juiciness and freshness. Unlike Brunello, it’s essential that the Rosso shows greater balance and smoothness from the start, which is why we tend to use larger grape bunches in order to achieve lower tannic concentration in a shorter period of maturation. Yet we guarantee the same quality level as Brunello in a wine coming from the same vineyards where yields are less than 50 quintals per hectare After aging for about a year in large Slavonian oak barrels, the wine is bottled and put on the market. 2018 Sapaio Bolgheri Superiore
The estate Podere Sapaio was founded in 1999. Its 40 hectars are spread between the Councils of Castagneto Carducci and Bibbona. Grape varieties of Bordeaux origin -Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot-, which in the last fifty years have imposed themselves in the area, are grown in lands of quaternary deposits. Other grape varieties are present in small quantities. There are also some hectares of land, which are part of the estate, where Frantoio, Moraiolo and Leccino cultivars of olive trees are grown.$94.902 -

Winery Notes- Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at controlled temperature and maceration lasts for about 12 days for both the Cabernet Sauvignon to the Sangiovese. It is then aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels and for a further three months in the bottle. The wine is distinguished by a good structure and is extremely supple making it very pleasant and drinkable.
