2025 Hippolyte Reverdy Sancerre
Does it get more classic than this? Like Chablis and Muscadet, Sancerre is a quintessential white wine appellation of France, beloved for its famous Kimmeridgian limestone and crisp blancs that sing at apéro hour. This AOC also happens to be home to half a dozen vignerons named Reverdy. Domaine Hippolyte Reverdy, a family farm that has been making wine for many generations—since the 1600s—is our favorite, producing Sancerres with trademark notes of fresh spring flowers and a zesty, mineral finish. Since Kermit began to work with Hippolyte, the first Reverdy in this family to bottle, in the 1980s, the wines have been consistently excellent. The current generation, Julie Guiard—Hippolyte’s granddaughter—is as much a humble farmer as any of her ancestors, foregoing vacation and travel to make sure everything is in exactly the right place in her vines and cellar. As we celebrate four decades of importing Domaine Hippolyte Reverdy, join me in opening a bottle of this charming Sancerre that represents what we love most about tradition in French winemaking.$44.9024+ -

2020 Fleur Cardinale, St-Emilion
Winery Notes- The growth is located east of Saint-Emilion on the northern slope of a limestone plateau. Its location in a cool sector is a true advantage in the context of climate change. Its plots are established on clay-limestone soils and bordered by a 40-hectare forest. Château Fleur Cardinale is naturally complex and generous, with a sensation of fresh and intense fruit both on the nose and palate. The wine is renowned for its ability to achieve perfect balance between the power and silkiness of Merlots grown on clay soils, and the fresh, distinguished character of Cabernets grown on limestone. It is a great wine for aging, thanks to a solid structure supported by consistently fine tannins, a true signature of the House.$49.9010 -
2023 Dominique Roger Les Deserts Sancerre
The Roger family’s roots in the Sancerre can be measured in centuries, with records showing the family residing in the region since the early 18th century. It was in 1950 that Dominique’s father Maurice started Domaine du Carrou in one Sancerre’s finest villages, Bué. This high altitude bastion of Sauvignon Blanc boasts all three of the regions famed soil types: terres blanches, caillotes, and an enviable percentage of silex. In the vineyards, Dominique chooses to work the soils constantly, allowing the roots to extend into the limestone mother rock. Herbicides and pesticides are never used and the grapes are only hand harvested (a practice that is becoming rarer and rarer in Sancerre). In the cellar, only indigenous yeasts are used and the wines are aged in tank to preserve the mineral cut of these privileged vineyards. The dedication put forth by the Roger family has vaulted to the upper echelons of the region. Domaine du Carrou is consistently ranked as one of the top producers in all of Sancerre by La Revue du Vin de France and other French publications.$39.9021 -
