2023 Margerum M5 Santa Barbara County Rhône Blend
Winery Notes- M5 is Margerum's Flagship wine. It is modeled after top wines from southern Rhône – Châteauneuf-du-Pape . The M is for Margerum and the 5 is for 5 grapes: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, and Counoise. M5 is a Grenache-based blend and has elegance and layers making it a versatile table and food wine. The overlying presence of Grenache flavors initially impacts the palate, followed by a finish complete with hints of jam, cocoa, and dark berry contributions of Syrah and earthy Mourvèdre. It’s a “go-to” wine since it drinks well with every occasion and almost every type of cuisine. Syrah adds richness and power, Mourvèdre adds earthy, old world, Counoise adds aromatics of watermelon and Cinsault adds a spice component Largely estate plus purchased grapes & made with Reductive winemaking style. 2021 Hitching Post Highliner Sideways 20 Year Anniversary Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir
Winery Notes- We selected our flagship wine for this commemorative bottling. “Highliner” is an assemblage of only the best lots of all the different Pinot Noirs we make each vintage. Consequently, it earns consistent high praise. The fruit for 2021 Highliner came from 5 different vineyards with the majority sourced from the iconic Sanford & Benedict Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills appellation. All vineyards and clones are harvested and produced separately using traditional burgundian techniques. 20 months barrel age in French oak along with masterful blending, brought all the elements to a harmonious whole. "We enjoy making Highliner the most of any of our wines,” states Frank Ostini. “Utilizing the different flavors and textures from all of these vineyards creates a complex and balanced wine that plays to the many keys of Pinot Noir. The 2021 vintage is the best vintage of the 2000s to date.” The moniker “Highliner” refers to the best fishermen in the fleet and references Gray Hartley’s nearly 30 years in the fishing industry prior to winemaking. 2023 Schug Carneros Pinot Noir (375ml Half Bottle)
Winery Notes- This classic Carneros region Pinot Noir offers a wide range of flavors and aromas thanks to its “clonal diversity.” The individual clones from several different vineyard lots are vinified separately and then carefully selected and blended, each retaining its unique clonal signature. The result is a complex wine with a rich bouquet of red cherries, raspberries, blackberries, and hints of floral notes and baking spices. It is bursting with juicy flavors of strawberry and cranberry, wrapped in a silky and elegant texture, and ending with a long, flavorful finish. 2021 Hitching Post Hometown Central Coast Pinot Noir
Winery Notes- The 2021 “Hometown” is a pretty, lavish wine graced with bright raspberry and ripe red cherry fruit, a gentle spiciness, an obvious earthiness, and wonderful acidity that makes for a lively palate impression in a medium bodied style. It is drinking beautifully now and will age nicely over the next 5 years. Vineyard sites are Kick-On Ranch, Rio Vista and Quinta del Mar Vineyards, bringing together bouncy acidity and riper berry qualities. Aged 11 months in older French oak barrels.$19.901 -
2022 La Follette Los Primeros Sonoma County Chardonnay
Winery Notes- Sonoma County is emerging as a top spot for Chardonnays to pair with food. With a much larger Diurnal Swing than our neighbors to the East, Sonoma Chardonnays tend to be more “European” in style with racy acid and more stone fruit flavors like white peach and apricot. This wine is a blend of both declassified barrels from some of our top single vineyard sites along with contracted sources picked by the winemaking team for specific flavor profiles. A pale yellow color with notes of star jasmine, Bartlett pear and star fruit on the nose. Faint hints of vanilla, toasted marshmallow and grilled lemon linger in the background. In the mouth the pear, star fruit and white flowers persist with the addition of Fuji apple, persimmon with a zippy acidity. Pairs well with mild cheeses and seafood dishes like shrimp scampi or macadamia crusted halibut.$24.9015 -
2021 La Follette Los Primeros Sonoma County Pinot Noir
Winery Notes- For our 2021 Los Primeros Pinot Noir we blended both declassified barrels from some of our top single vineyard wines along with contracted sources chosen by the winemaking team for specific aroma and flavor profiles. Layered into this are blending components from a handful of truly elite Sonoma Coast producers. Visually, the wine is a light ruby which fades to delicate pink with a hint of brick red. By sight alone one would think this to be Côte de Beaune rather than California. But the nose has classic Sonoma cherry cola nut and ripe raspberry with bacon fat, sage, white button mushroom and fall leaves. On the palate, the wine is on the lighter side of medium body and bursts with black cherry and pomegranate. This initial fruit is followed by a brace of acidity with tons of spice followed by black pepper, paprika, sage, tomato leaf and hints of oyster shell.$27.905 -
2023 Ojai Clima Frío Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir
Winery Notes- This 2023 Pinot Noir is the first of our new Clima Frío series, and we’re elated by what a dramatic and aromatic debut this is. This bottling cobbles together fruit grown in the Santa Maria Valley and just outside the Sta. Rita Hills. The wine is packed with earthy nuance while sporting lots of juicy, spicy fruit. It pulls you in with its wild aroma, which has pretty notes of dried rose, spice box, orange peel, and black tea. Then you’ll find it’s a just a joy to drink—juicy with ripe berries and cherry, refreshingly mineral, and there’s a fine spicy astringency that builds in the mid-palate onward. There’s lots of substance here, but it’s also a wine that’s very easy to enjoy a second glass.$39.9012 -
2022 Brewer-Clifton Machado Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir
Winery Notes- Looking to secure a mirror-image sister ranch to our 3D Vineyard, we began working with the Machado family in the winter of 2008. Our 15 acre parcel on their land is located adjacent to Clos Pepe and immediately behind the Kessler-Haak Vineyard. The site is marked by a gorgeous rolling terrain with sandy loam soils. At Machado, the majority of the planting is dedicated to pinot noir with equal amounts of such selections as Pommard, Merry Edwards, Mount Eden, and 459. In addition to pinot noir, we also planted a small, two-acre plot in the sandiest portion of the field to the Sweeney Canyon selection of chardonnay.$84.9017 -
